Rank cells using a criteria

Hello,

In column A there is data, eg. A111AA. A number can appear multiple times.
What I need is a formula which put in column B the x-time the number appears.

A111A 1
A111A 2
A111B 1
A111A 3

How about

=COUNTIFS(A$2:A2,A2)
