Scatter plot places values in title bar and other weirdness

Hi, I usually can select a column of data, then create a scatter plot from that data with each value being plotted on the y-axis (and the x-axis corresponding to each point's row).

However, when I try this now, it is not working. If the column has a header, it just puts EVERY value into the title? Why?!
If I do this without a column header, it does something even more bizarre- it plots the first point as it should, but each subsequent point is plotted as (row, 0)!

I've attached images for both use cases. I've tried formatting the cells to both "general" and "number." Same result.

Why did this stop working in Excel???

Latest version of x64 office 365, Windows 10.

Excel Facts

Workdays for a market open Mon, Wed, Friday?
Yes! Use "0101011" for the weekend argument in NETWORKDAYS.INTL or WORKDAY.INTL. The 7 digits start on Monday. 1 means it is a weekend.
Can you post your raw data, it looks like you are trying to plot one variable only?

Okay, I was able to resolve this by starting from scratch with a new data import and making sure the numbers were imported as numbers instead of text. What's weird is that I couldn't re-format the cells to number from text after the data had been imported. And, the imported data cells didn't indicate they were text cells.

I think it would be nice if excel made it clearer the formatting of the cells and how to convert to number from text.
