SUMIF based on specific cell data

I am using the SUMIF formula to total money spent on given dates. Example: =SUMIF(R2:CM2,"2/28/2021",R3:CM3)
Each month I have to go in and change each date.

Is there a way I can make the "data" the value from a cell where I can just change the date there? That would be easier to edit.

Yes, just enter the cell reference, i.e.
Excel Formula:
=SUMIF(R2:CM2,A1,R3:CM3)
if your data was in cell A1.

Note that for any Excel formula that is looking for a value, you can use a cell reference that holds that value.
