Use variable in a formula in VBA

Hi,

I'm facing runtime error 1004 when using the below command in excel. What could be the reason? The variable is defined as a string and has a value taken from another cell.

ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "=RIGHT(LEFT(" & Variable & ",8),1)&RIGHT(LEFT(" & Variable & ",6),3)"

You need quotes around the string being returned by Variable.

ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "=RIGHT(LEFT(""" & Variable & """,8),1)&RIGHT(LEFT(""" & Variable & """,6),3)"
