How does one use SUMPRODUCT without knowing the exact range?

I want to just be able to refer to the column, e.g. A:A, B:B rather than the exact range e.g. A2:A35, B2:B100.

The first cell in the column will be the column header so will an account of this need to be made?

There may also be blank cells in the column but, apart from blank cells and the header, all cells will have a numeric value.

I can use a dynamic named range but I would rather avoid that if I can.

Thanks

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
Not enough information.
Also, why are you stuck on SUMPRODUCT and not some other function(s)?
Please give us some sample data, expected results and explanation of the requirement in relation to the sample data.
