Here's my out put data, usually i'll over complicat things in formulas, asking here here what alternative methods are out there for countying time, date, day and month in data.

My standard approach would be, Insert column after A with =text(A1,"MMM") giving me Jan - Dec.

Where i've issues is
1. Finding a foumla to subtracting time
2. Not being able to calculate the day and total hour
3. Is my approach correct

Excel Facts

Can you sort left to right?
To sort left-to-right, use the Sort dialog box. Click Options. Choose "Sort left to right"
can you provide some examples
countying time, date, day and month in data.

you want to count - what exactly

I'm not following - sorry other members may know what you are after, but i dont see it

subtracting time stop - start - assuming all on same day as your example

Note: Images are difficult to see , and also requires that I input all the data myself, which is very time consuming.

A SMALL sample spreadsheet, around 10-20 rows, would help a lot here, with all sensitive data removed, and expected results mocked up and manually entered, with a few notes of explanation.

MrExcel has a tool called “XL2BB” that lets you post samples of your data and will allow us to copy/paste your sample data into our Excel spreadsheets, saving a lot of time.

You can also test to see if it works ok, in the "Test Here" forum.

OR if you cannot get XL2BB to work, or have restrictions on your PC , then put the sample spreadsheet onto a share
I only tend to goto OneDrive, Dropbox or google docs , as I'm never certain of other random share sites and possible virus.
Please make sure you have a representative data sample and also that the data has been desensitised, remember this site is open to anyone with internet access to see - so any sensitive / personal data should be removed

if the time is already formatted as real time - then just D2-C2
will produce the duration - format the duration column with [H]:MM:SS

if the values are text
then
try changing to a time value using
=TIME(LEFT(C3,2),MID(C3,4,2),RIGHT(C3,2))
in a new column

But in the sample you posted - there are hidden characters - but that maybe because of the way its copied into the forum

so please use either XL2BB or a file share as pointed out in previous post

Sadly XL2BB fails, which file sharing hyperlinks are accepted here?
P.S. Thank you so far for the help.

as mentioned in above post
