# Thread: Hiding formula results until data entered

1. ## Hiding formula results until data entered

I have a formula in cell C1 (=A1/B1). I want to copy this formula down to row C20, however rows A2 to A20 are empty so C2 to C20 show (#DIVO!). Is there something I can put in the formula to make column C be blank until the data is enter into Columns A & B? Reply With Quote

You can test for the denominator:

=IF(B1,A1/B1,"")

Thank You, works great, however sometimes I have 0 and 0 for my inputs in A and B and in this case I need the formula to return 100%. With the current =if(B1, A1/B1, "") when 0 is entered I get a blank. Reply With Quote

This may be what you want:

=IF(B1,A1/B1,1) Reply With Quote

Thanks for your reply. What I just figured out and think I going to use is this:

=if(B1="","",IF(and(B1<1),1,A1/B1))

My cell remains blank if B1 is blank, my output is 100% if B1 is less than 1 and if any number above 0 is entered in B1 the calculation is performed.

(My data in B1 will always be 0 or a number greater than 0.)
