I want to add a new (i.e. keep my summary raw data) column to a pivot table that will give me the current column as a percent of the column's total. Excel doesn't seem to want to let me add this as as anything but a new data row. Here's an example of what I want:
Rep NY % Boston %
Bob 5,000 33% 1000 50%
Jane 10,000 67% 1000 50%
Total 15,000 100% 2,000 100%
When I add a the same data field Excel wants to make it a new row (rather than column):
Rep Data NY Boston
Bob Sales 5,000 1,000
% Sales 33% 50%
Jane Sales 10,000 1,000
% Sales 67% 50%
Total 15,000 2,000
Total % 100% 100%
Seems like this would be a simple thing but I'm missing something.
