I am using the following formula:

=IF(AND($W5956="",$X5956=""),0,IF($Q5956="Deployment",0,IF(AND($P5956="",$N5956=""),0,IF(AND($P5956<>"",$P5956<$W5956),0,IF($P5956="",TODAY()-IF($N5956<$W5956,$W5956,$N5956),$P5956-IF($N5956<$W5956,$W5956,$N5956))))))

I tried to modify the second IF statement IF($Q5956="Deployment", to return a 0 if the $Q5956 starts with the word Deployment by adding an * after the word Deployment:

=IF(AND($W5956="",$X5956=""),0,IF($Q5956="Deployment*",0,IF(AND($P5956="",$N5956=""),0,IF(AND($P5956<>"",$P5956<$W5956),0,IF($P5956="",TODAY()-IF($N5956<$W5956,$W5956,$N5956),$P5956-IF($N5956<$W5956,$W5956,$N5956))))))

The first formula returns a 0, but the second formula does not. What am I missing?

Excel Facts

Enter current date or time
Ctrl+: enters current time. Ctrl+; enters current date. Use Ctrl+: Ctrl+; Enter for current date & time.
In that context the * isn't recognised as a wildcard, try using LEFT function like

IF(LEFT($Q5956,10)="Deployment"......
