What's the difference between Search By Rows and Search By Columns in Excel's Find options? I'm not sure what these options are used for and I can't seem to google the answer.

Thanks!

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
One will search across rows, so it will look at A1, B1, C1, D1, etc then go to the next row, A2, B2, C2, D2, etc...

The other will search down columns, so it will look at A1, A2, A3, A4, etc then go to the next column, B1, B2, B3, B4, etc...

In a blank wb, put an "x" in two cells, let's say G25 and L10. Select cell A1 and search (Find Next) by rows with Look In: Values. It will find L10 first. If (with A1 selected again) you change it to By Columns, it will find G25 first.
