Hi all,

Just a quick question. Nothing major really, just a little thing that has been bugging me for ages and I wonder if anyone knows the reason why and if there is a way around it.

When I have Excel open and a file open and I go to open another Excel file (Usually from Windows Explorer), I have to click on the already opened Excel file and actually have to click in one of the cells of that spread sheet to open the new spread sheet.

Why is this? And is there a way around it.

Thanks.

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
Hi Kudrun - I have also had this happen. It seems to happen more often when I have a number of sheets open. Sometimes it is because one of the other sheets is waiting for a response - as in check the OK box - to continue, but sometimes it just seems like a memory issue. Good questions though.
