adding and multiplying hours in Excel

I am recording hours worked per day as
5:40 (5 hours, 40 minutes)
6:10
8:20
6:40
which totals 26:50. (26 hours, 50 minutes)

However, when I then try to multiply the total hours:minutes by an hourly rate (60), I get an incorrect answer (I get 67.08333333). Is there a trick for this?

multiply your hours by 24 first.
