We have a shared workbook with data validation. Everyone uses Offie 365. Last week after someone messed with sheet protection, someone reported that auto complete stopped working in the data validation, it was rebuilt but no effect for the user. Now it has stopped for me, on all workbooks I create. Any idea where to begin?

Excel Facts

Workdays for a market open Mon, Wed, Friday?
Yes! Use "0101011" for the weekend argument in NETWORKDAYS.INTL or WORKDAY.INTL. The 7 digits start on Monday. 1 means it is a weekend.
Data validation does not support autocompletion. There must have been something else in place to do it that changed. The only way that I have seen people do that is to put the data validation list above the cell with data validation. This works like it would work in any other cell. Excel attempts to complete an entry in a cell from the cells above, no matter whether it's a data validation dropdown list or just typing into the cell.

Hi & welcome to MrExcel.
Are you using Excel Online, or the desktop app?

Will this ever be available in Excel? I'm building something now that would solve so many user problems.

I've seen in other forums that this is available. Is it only in some versions? If so why are we being teased by Microsoft?

It has, I think, been in and out of the Insider Beta, so will probably be a little while yet before it's available to desktop 365.

I've seen a report that is has been temporarily disabled to fix some issues. I suggest to wait, it is likely to come back into life soon.
