I have a shortcut on my desktop that I always want opened as a read only file.

I know there is something I can put in the path to do this but don't know what it is...

The statement I have now to open it makes you choose read only ...

That path is

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\excel.exe" I:\Main\Master.xls

I beleive... I:\Main\Master.xls will work also to open it but in both cases read only must be clicked before it will open.. That is what I want to eliminate...

Thank You

Marty

Excel Facts

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
Does the same thing happen if you open the workbook in Excel? In that case the workbook has been saved as read only. I don't know how to suppress the dialog box.

Yes it does and I have saved it as read only.

However, I was able to suppress it about two years ago with just a couple of characters in the path. I cannot find that code. I keep most of these things in a binder but that one I lost or misplaced..

Thanks

Marty
