What does the above do when used in a formula?

Hi and Welcome to the Board
Normally the "&" works in the same way as CONCATENATE or, it is a method of joining 2 fields.
So, for example, the below formula will join whatever is in cell A1 with whatever is in B1, with a space in between. If JOHN was in A1 and SMITH was in B1
you would have JOHN SMITH in the formula cell

=A1&" "&B1

What does the above do when used in a formula?

Looks like the result(s) of an expression is/are concatenated using the & concatenation operator with something as in:

=SUM(A1:F2)&" Canadian dollars."
