A deeper way to debug dependencies?

I am wondering if there are any better tools than what appears on the "Formulas" menu as the ability to show arrows?

I have a somewhat "mystery column" in a workbook and i am trying to determine what it is used for.

One thing i have discovered is that the "dependencies" arrows do not show if a cell is used in a chart.

QUESTION 1 - Is there any way to determine if a cell is used in a chart?

Also, using the dependency arrows on cells in this column, references to a cell with a formula like this come up as a dependency:
=VLOOKUP(B57,rng_goal[#All],COLUMN(rng_goal[[#Headers],[Sl60Wtd.mo]]),FALSE)

This cell is indeed part of "rng_goal". but it is not in the column referenced by that formula.

QUESTION 2 - Is there any way to narrow the list of dependencies to exclude references to a table (such as rng_goal[#All]) that the cell happens to be in, but where its value does not affect the result of the formula evaluation?

Thanks!

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type
I've never come across better ways to do it.
If I encounter a column of which I am not sure what it does, in a copy of the workbook, I delete the column entries, and then look through the workbook to see if errors appear, or charts start doing funnies.

Sometimes, when there are macros in the workbook, these may use the column for a calculation.
