How would I call the function in the case study?;

I tried the following:

"Worksheet_Change(Range("A1:A2"))"

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.
You don't call events. If you set up code in an event but you also want to use that code in another way, then you put the code in its own Sub and have the event call the Sub. You can then also call the sub with the other method you wanted.
 
You don't explicitly call an event macro -- it's called by Excel in response to an event.

I don't know what book(?) you're referring to.
