A simple questions about copy and paste

I just recently upgraded to windows 7 with Excel 2010. I have noticed that when I hit Ctrl-C I am still able to copy items but if I type anything, I am no longer to hit the paste button. I can copy and paste perfectly fine if I do not type anything between hitting copy and then hitting paste. Is this a default function that is left on? I could not find anything under the help section.

Welcome to MrExcel.

Excel clears the clipboard if you edit a cell after copying. That's always been the case and isn't something new in Excel 2010.
