Access pivot tables

Hello, gurus.

I'm very new at Access, but am well versed in excel. I developed a database that works correctly, and relates to other tables without error. But all the reports that I generate only mirror the data as I created it in the database (as the same columns as fields). Is there a way to use the Access pivot table to have the column in the database as a field so it trends accross the page (as dates). Basically, I have financial data by month, and i'd like to show that on a trend on a pivot table. The problem is I have multiple entries for each ledger item and the only difference is the amount for the month and the date.

So, my question is if I have double inputs in my database, will they show on the pivot table as well? Or is there a way I can have the pivot table not show those additional entries. I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance!

Pivot Table Drill Down
Double-click any number in a pivot table to create a new report showing all detail rows that make up that number
I think that you might be able to achieve this by creating a cross tab query with your dates as your columns. Then create a pivot table from the query with your dates showing across the pivot.

Thanks, Alan! I still need to work out the differences between excel and access pivot tables, but I think your suggesstion will work. I toyed around with it for a little bit, and got close. Some of the items didn't line up, but I think that was user error:) Thanks for the tip!
