I have two stacked columns clustered, each comprised of different numbers (budget and actual) of the same five accounts. I need to add a line showing the variance. What are the steps?

Excel Facts

How can you turn a range sideways?
Copy the range. Select a blank cell. Right-click, Paste Special, then choose Transpose.
Set up an area in your worksheet to calculate the variance.
Add another data series to your chart, and make the source of it be the range described above.
This will make the series appear as another bar on your chart.
Right click on one of the new bars, and change the chart type to line.

Thanks Gerald! It all worked fine, EXCEPT...I can't seem to get the line to show up visibly. The markers are there, and the series is formatted for a line, but no line. Do you have a guess as to what I'm missing??

Thanks!

The only things I can think of are . . .

1) Does the line have it's colour set to NONE ?
If yes, give it a colour

2) Does the line have the same colour as the background ?
If yes, change the colour

3) Is the line extremely thin ?
If yes, make it thicker.

Hi

I am trying to create a chart which shows me bars stacked by Region and showing information by Band level then also add a Line graph to the same graph to show the Fcst units to compare to Actuals. Can that be done on the basis of the attached data please advise?

Any help will be appreciated

I think you are allowed to post links like that, but my personal policy is not to look at them, sorry. Maybe some one else would like to ?
