Adding a picture?

Hi guys. I'm not sure excel will let me do what i am trying, but here goes.

I want to add a picture to a cell, that can be seen either thru a mousover of the cell, or as a clickable hyperlink to the cell.

Before anyone suggests that you CAN hyperlink to a picture file, here is my problem. Excel will record the path and pull the picture in dynamically. So, if i had a picture on C:\mypics\picturetest.jpg, and i had my excel sheet hyperlink to it, then whoever i gave the excel file to would need to have the pic in a local c:mypics\picturetest.jpg for the file to be seen.

I guess what i need is for some way to bundle the pics up with a worksheet, so whoever i give the spreadsheet to can see them.

You could try a picture in a comment:

  # Insert | Comment
  
  # Click on the Comment Box, Right Click on one of the Handles
  
  # Click on Format_Comment
  
  # Click on Colors and Lines Tab
  
  # Then from the Fill | Color DropDown, click on Fill_Effects
  
  # Click on the Picture Tab
  
  # Click on Select_Picture
  
  # Navigate to select your picture, select it
  
  # OK your way out

Do you have access to a shared drive where you are doing this? You could always post those images on your shared volume, and everyone will be able to see the pics

Failing that, you could zip the excel file up with all the relevant pics and allow users to 'install' your spreadsheet (essentially extracting images and the file to a pre determined location on their computer)

Thanks so much. That is EXACTLY what i was hoping i could do. I will try this tonight when i get home and let you know if i had success. I didnt think that you could put a pic in a comment, but that was what i was hoping for.

Could you tell me what version of excell you are using?

Here at work i have excell 2000, and when i click FORMAT in the comment, i only have a COLOR dropdown, and it doesnt give me the options you are describing.
