Hi - hope you can help.

I have a pivot table that contains a list of items - and with all pivot tables, that list can change... so at the moment the cells with data are A5:A20 but as it's dynamic, it could end up as A5:A50

I want to use the list as the basis for a look-up via data validation but when I try to use the pivot table column as a data source I have to do A5:A50 as additional items can be added... that means the drop-down has the 16 populated items followed by 34 blanks - which looks rubbish.

so... 1. can I give a name to a pivot table field / column that can be used in a data validation lookup, and 2. would it remain dynamic?

cheers!!
