adding contents to the end of a cell

I have a log of submitted item. Some need to be resubmitted which means the number has to change. for example item 1 needs to be resubmitted as item 1.1 and then if it needs to be submitted again it would be 1.2 and so on

does anyone know how to select a cell, use the contents in that cell, and just add on a ".1" or ".2" to it?

If you want the code to keep incrementing the value by 0.1 each time it is executed, you will need something like this...

  Dim R As Range, N As Double
  Set R = Range("A1")
  N = Val(Mid(R.Value, InStrRev(R.Value, " ") + 1))
  R.Value = Left(R.Value, InStr(R.Value, " ")) & (N + 0.1)
