I have been trying for hours to create an X-Y scatter plot with horizontal labels.
Below is my data (column A- Horizontal axis and column B- verticle axis). When I try to create XY scatter plot in Excel 2010, horizontal (category) axis labels option is greyed out (disabled?). Exact serial nos should be shown on the horizontal axis and vertical axis may be divided into major units of 20 or 25. Please help.

SerialNo Qty
140390 10
165362 22
171051 11
186975 20
192438 2
193931 53
193944 40
202438 14
208965 30
210555 77
216800 17
218950 355
219610 105
220349 8
227445 11

etc

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
an x-y scatter plot depends on each point having 2 coordinates - your serial numbers are text and cannot be plotted

how about a vertical bar chart where text on the horizontal axis is fine ?

but if you have hundrerds of serial numbers the graph will be unreadable

can the serial numbers be batched ?
