I am trying to add an item in my main info entry form in Access 2007, to allow me to attach PDF files of scanned documents to a record. I have added the field in the appropriate table and can add the items in the table, but am unable to do so in the form view.

the "Asset" template has exactly what I want on the "Asset Details" form, but i cannot duplicate it in my DB.

What am I missing?

Excel Facts

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
The asset details does have a command button associated with it, and an on click macro associated with that button.

I assume your attachement field in your database is set as an "attachment" and that you have added an attachment control on your form?

I have tried adding an attachment control (from the paper clip icon on the deign ribbon), and adding a control button with an macro. Neither of them work. In the table, the field is set as attachment (with paper clip icons in every cell).

So when you click on the attachment window you dont even get the attachment(s) control window (2 arrows and paperclip)? Is your control source for the attachment, the attachment field from your table? The easiest way to add it to the form, is to go to add exsisting fields, and double click on your attachment field. From there you should just be able to click on it.

I cant think of any reason off my head why you can't if all that doesnt work. Maybe someone with more access knowledge can help out.

I am going to close the program and then try it again. when I do it from "add from existing" if just brings up a dead, blank box. Thanks for the effort though.
