Greetings, I've got a current frustration with excel, and was wonderring if anyone can help. What I am trying to do is this: from a data set which contains for each row a year, a size, and a number. What I would like to do is enter a formula for a table that has a column of years so that for each cell, it checks the column with the year and from that data it will add the number of the items that fall within a size range. I got as far as using the SUMIF command to add the number of an item within a range, and can manually select the area for a given year, but this takes a long time.
the 'human logic' flow would be something like: IF the cell in the column containing the year is equal to say 1995, THEN do the operation for those cells only (use that as the range for the SUMIF instead of having to manually enter the range for each year).
much appreciated.
