Advice for best process to segment large cell of data

I have a huge csv file, so large that it's in three files. When I import the data, a number of values that should populate horizontally across the sheet, dump into one cell as text.

Within the text there are numerical codes that identify the key information, a string, such as =297,345,467. So I have tracked the code definitions and created a separate file that contains the definitions and categories associated with these codes.

My plan is to scour this forum to learn more about vlookup and if,thens hoping to teach myself a way to look into the jibberish cell to identify the values and create a formula to go match the value in column one of the second book to the text definition in columns B-D.

Before I go down the arduous path, I wanted to do a temperature check with the experts to see if there are other ideas, recommendations or tips that could help.

Thanks!

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
Insert 2 empty columns to right of the data one.
Select the data in the column
Use Data/Text to columns with comma delimiter

Thank you, I ended up using a search and replace text string formula that I found on another thread, it finally worked. :)
