Hello Everyone!
This is my first time posting on Mr. Excel so I want start by thanking everyone in advance for reading this.
I recently received a promotion at a large Airline hotel in Detroit that provides lodging for roughly 70 airline crews (from 23 different airlines) per day.
Part of my new job is creating the daily sign-in sheet for each airline due to arrive that day. At the beginning of the month I am e-mailed a monthly manifest from each airline that tells me what crews (In-bound Flight Number, Out-bound Flight Number, and Number of Rooms) are scheduled to stay with us for each day of the month.
Example:
From this manifest I must look along the top for the day of the month I wish to create the sheet. Then I follow down the column and scan for numbers. Cells with numbers signify the number of rooms that the crew will need that day. (Example: On day 1 above there will be 5 rooms for Inbound Crew 206)
The end result is a sign in sheet that has the correct number of rows per crew (for crew 206 they would need 5 rows on the 1st). The correct sheet will look like this:
I am not very proficient with excel, but from viewing Excelisfun's videos on youtube I was thinking an OFFSET function would be needed to retrieve the inbound and outbound numbers that sit to the left of the corresponding number of rooms needed for that day.
However, I am clueless on how I can convert the number of rooms per crew into the correct number of rows on the sign-in sheet so each pilot has a place to sign-in upon arrival.
Phew! Sorry about having such a long post. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can auto-generate the inbound and outbound information on my sign-in sheets after importing the monthly manifest?
