Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand

There is no native Excel function to handle this. Chip Pearson offers a routine here to do it via macro :

Alternately, my add-in available to download via the link below will do it for you (either alpha, reverse alpha, custom or strict numeric (eg Sheet1 is placed where it is supposed to be, not 'twixt Sheet1 and Sheet2 which is where most routines place it).
