How do I calculate an amount minus 1.69% in a cell ONLY if that number is greater than 0? ie I don't want a negative amount if the amount is zero, ie A1 is £20, A2 is £20 less 1.69% but if A1 is £0 A2 must also be £0 not -£0.02

How to calculate loan payments in Excel?
Use the PMT function: =PMT(5%/12,60,-25000) is for a $25,000 loan, 5% annual interest, 60 month loan.
Hi & welcome to MrExcel.
How about
Excel Formula:
=MAX(0,A1-1.69%)

Oops, missed the 2nd A1
Excel Formula:
=MAX(0,A1-1.69%*A1)

That expression (the original) will never be negative, 1.69% of zero is of course zero
