Hi -- I should be able to figure it out but can't. I looked at the other postings couldn't get there.

I have a spreadsheet with many complaints. Column A shows indicates the region (a number from one through 15) that incurred the complaint. Columns B through D each represent a different kind of complaint (e.g. B is later delivery, C is damaged product). If there is a complaint there is an X in the cell.

I would like to total up the complaints by region.

Thanks

What is the shortcut key for Format Selection?
Ctrl+1 (the number one) will open the Format dialog for whatever is selected.
You can use a formula like this:

=SUMPRODUCT((A$2:A$10=E1)*(B$2:D$10="x"))

where E1 contains the Region you want to sum. Increase the number of rows in the other ranges to suit, but they must be the same.
