Hi everyone, im new here. what i am trying to do is organize a spreadsheet to track scores of competitors. its fairly simple, im just missing something. simply put, i will have rows A and B. in row A i will enter the competitors score for that round. In row B i would like to assign a place value ie.1,2,3,4... Is there a way to do this automatically based off the information in row A? seperately, i have seen it all in one row before but i dont know how they did it. basically it was all in row A with the place outside the parenthesis and the score inside the parenthesis, ie, 1(39), 2(44), 3(47). if that is possible i would prefer it. im fairly competent in excel and understand most of the language. any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

One more question. is there a way to distinguish ascending/descending order of rank. example: one workout the first place guy is the one with the fastest time. another workout the first place guy may have the highest weight recorded. the two workouts have opposite ranking orders.
