I am trying to use the autofill function to to fill an entire page down for me, but the '$' that I have in the cell seems to only duplicate that reference. the formula is: ='Inv Cost & Ideal Usage'!$K$19. without the $'s it works fine. Is there a way around this?

Thanks,
- Andrew

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
Andrew,

The purpose of the '$' is to retain an absolute reference so $K$19 will stay $K$19 when it is copied, moved or filled. Based on what you're describing Excel is interpreting the $ syntax as it was designed to do. What is the reason that you need a relative reference (without $) to have the $ symbol?

If I am missing something let me know.
