Autofilling a column with an alphanumeric sequence.

Hello.

I'm having this problem trying to fill a column with hundreds of cells, each one with a different alphanumeric code, following a simple sequence. For example, the first cell has the code CQC-10000A and the last one CQC-19999A. The numbers on the sequence increments by 1 on each cell, but the letters must not change. I tried using the autofill option, but it didn't work for me, probably because it's not a numbers only sequence. So I was wondering if anyone could help me out.

I'd like this to work in either Excell 2003 and 2007, if possible.

Hi. With CQC-10000A in A1 then in A2

=LEFT(A1,4)&MID(A1,5,5)+1&RIGHT(A1,1)

and drag down.

Thanks for the answer, but the Excell is accusing an error on the formula.

If you use , as the decimal separator then try

=LEFT(A1;4)&MID(A1;5;5)+1&RIGHT(A1;1)
