I have a sheet that I use autofilters on, some of the columns are really narrow, I only need to filter on two of the columns, is there anyway to just have the auto filter boxes on those two columns? Excel ’97. thanks

Mark, thanks, that works if I select C and D, but how about if I need C and E? Then I get "the command you chose cannot be performed with multiple selections" can this be done any other way? maybe with VBA

Nope. You can only do this with adjacent columns. How about reordering your columns?
