Help please, I am trying to have 8 various shapes placed on running pages alphabetically, ie 8 modules to a page being 2wide by 4 high. There would be say 200 entries of various combinations and names equating to 80 pages If these can be sorted alphabeitically by name then placed on subsequent pages. Is this possible in excel or in "VB" Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.

I don't understand your goal? It's likely that others don't either. Please try again with more details...

Sorry I will try again, I am creating a alphabetical Directory with is made up of 7 varying shape ie 1/8 of a page, 1/4 page etc. What I am trying to achieve is to have a list of names with the size taken to be placed on pages alphabetically (automatically) I will attach the url as an example of the layout that I have to do in excel prior to publication
once again any help would be of great assistance.

Ok. The answer is yes. However, a few questions. Are all of your "shapes" the same size? In the same position on each page? Quote from a previous reply left me wondering.

"...have a list of names with the size taken to be placed..."

Are these shapes pictures? If not, what are they?

If it's truly a merge, then I would assume that you would have one page that could serve as a template for all others.

"...200 entries of various combinations and names equating to 80 pages..."

Again, a bit confusing. 200 entries of what? 80 pages would equate to over 600 items... A workbook containing 640 images might get a bit large. Is this all going into one workbook?

You will likely need code which demands some specific instructions.

Example. I have Sheet1 containing 8 images. Below each image, in a cell, is a text description pertaining to each image. This worksheet will serve as a template for an additional 79 worksheets. The information needed for each of these images is located in a worksheet named "MyListings" in columns "A" and "B". Column A contains the image description information while the adjacent cell in column B contains the path to the file that will be loaded into the image. There are 640 items from row 1 to row 640. To keep the filesize managable, I would like to limit each workbook to 40 worksheets, each filled with 8 images added dynamically from "MyListings". It would also be nice to include a hyperlink index in column C of "MyListings" for easy navigation to each workbook and worksheet created.

Yu know what I mean? Of course I am guessing and may have completely missed your goal. Please invest some more time by way of details into your next reply. :)

I really am sorry it is hard to explain, the shapes are only borders in excel. Is there a way I can attach a spreadsheet. I am only a novice at forums.

Yes. This can be automated easily. Your example workbook does not contain any data in the worksheet, "Names sizes". I have nothing to work with to provide some you with some example code... :)
