I have a purchase order template that pulls data from a Purchase Order Workbook and a Vendor Log Workbook. We recently changed our server so I had to change the link source on my template. Since doing so, my links will no longer automatically update unless I close it and reopen it or go to the edit links and manually ask it to update. For example, the date on the Purchase Order is not correct so I open the Purchase Order Workbook and correct the date. Instead of automatically updating on my P.O. I have to manually make it update. I have rechecked all my settings and they are still correct. Is there a solution to this?

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
How did you change the link source exactly?

What do your linking formulas look like now? Give a couple of examples.

Here are a couple of examples:

=IF(INDEX('\\Server08\f\logs\PURCHASE ORDER LOG.xls'!JOB_NO,MATCH(J3,'\\Server08\f\logs\PURCHASE ORDER LOG.xls'!PO_NO))=0, "", INDEX('\\Server08\f\logs\PURCHASE ORDER LOG.xls'!JOB_NO,MATCH(J3,'\\Server08\f\logs\PURCHASE ORDER LOG.xls'!PO_NO)))

and

=IF(ISNA(INDEX('\\Server08\f\logs\[Vendor Log.xls]Vendor'!$C$1:$C$65536,MATCH(C11,'\\Server08\f\logs\[Vendor Log.xls]Vendor'!$B$1:$B$65536))),"",INDEX('\\Server08\f\logs\[Vendor Log.xls]Vendor'!$C$1:$C$65536,MATCH(C11,'\\Server08\f\logs\[Vendor Log.xls]Vendor'!$B$1:$B$65536)))

Thanks!

Change your links to be to a mapped disk drive instead of a UNC. That should make it work as expected. At least that fixed a similar problem for me some time ago.
