I need to determine the average time to answer the phone in minutes and seconds in Excel. The raw data comes in seconds. I get 1 value for each day of the month. The data is the average amount of time spent on per phone call for that day. I need to be able to give a monthly average of time spent per call.

I have tried just doing the following:
=AVERAGE(D3:D33)
=AVERAGE(D3:D33)*0.6
=AVERAGE(D3:D33)/60

I am not sure what formula to use. Since the numbers are just formated as general (116, 41, 48, 48, 28, 102...etc) but they are really seconds. I tried changing the formatting of the cell to mm:ss, but then I get something wierd...for example for 116, I should get 1:56, instead I get 00:00...I am looking for any help that I can get.

Thank you!

Last used cell?
Press Ctrl+End to move to what Excel thinks is the last used cell.
Excel stores dates and times in terms of days (actually, the number of days since 31/12/1899) - ie, 24 hours = 1; 6 hours = 0.25, etc. To convert from number of seconds to fractions of days divide the number by 86,400 (the number of seconds in a day; 24*60*60 = 86,400) and then format the result as "mm:ss.0"
