Two quick questions. I'm using Set shp=AddTextEffect. Last two arguments Left and Top (read/write). Question 1: Why, if I set Left and Top to x and y does the shape appear in a different place to when I go With shp.Left= x, shp.Top=y? Question 2: After painstaking trial and error, succeeded in getting my wordart where I wanted it by the With shp.Top= 865, but when I type '?worksheets(2):shapes.range(1):top' into my immediate window (2here is only this one shape on ws2) the number returned is 960.75. How can that be? THanks.

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
Got answer to second question. I scaled the text too. That threw out the x and y co ords. Later, discovered that length of message too throws out your coordinated, as excel rescales automatically. The only way i've found to write a macro to place a variable length piece of word art in a specific splace is to use a font like courier new that is regularly spaced, and to pack your text string with spaces to make it the same length each time. Is this the right approach? Or am i missing something? It's the only way i've worked out. Microsoft offered a prize of a million dollars in 1987 to anyone who could come up with a more annoying system of dealing with wordart in macros. The prize remains unclaimed.
