Hi all,

This is more of a request for general advice rather than a specific query.

I'm interested in creating a web page where users can query data that is currently based in a spreadsheet - possibly by using e.g. drop-down menus, or more complex tools if necessary/possible.

Firstly, would it be sensible to point the page directly at the spreadsheet, or should the data be loaded to some sort of intermediate stage?

Secondly, what sort of language would be best for this? I've been recommended php, but what about Java or even good old HTML?

In any case I'm going to have to do some learning!

I look forward to any advice you may be able to provide. Thanks in advance.
