Blanks in Dropdown list

Folks,

I have some cells that I am using data validation for.
The validation is from a list.
The list is a range of cells.

I'm happy that it's working Ok, with one exception...
The range of cells is not fully populated; i.e the range is 15 cells, (to allow for additions), but currently only the first 6 cells are populated...

When a cell where the validation is applied is selected, the dropdown arrow appears, correctly, but the default choice is the first blank cell, meaning that to get the first selection, (which is likely to be the most oft chosen), the user has to scroll up the dropdown to get to the entry.

I hope that makes sense...

Is there a way to make the first entry the default, or for the list in the dropdown to only contain the populated cells, (ie not show the blanks?)

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Simsy

Can you sort left to right?
To sort left-to-right, use the Sort dialog box. Click Options. Choose "Sort left to right"
Ahh...

I've discoverd that I think I need a "dynamic range"...
I think I can find out/work out how to do that.
