Is there an option in excel to change the way you view the spreadsheet, such as there is in MS Word(Blue background, white text).
Looking at a white screen all day long is doing nothing for the old peepers....

Highlight Duplicates
Home, Conditional Formatting, Highlight Cells, Duplicate records, OK to add pink formatting to any duplicates in selected range.

Don't think there is in Excel but if you to Start|Settings|Control Panel - Select 'Display' then the Appearance tab you can change it there to a more suitable colour

The only other way would be to format the cells fill colour and font colours on your sheets
