Hello all,

Was wondering whether anyone could advise whether this is possible. Here is my data

AREA 1 AREA 2
ORIGINAL 2 -0.5
ADJUSTED 1.5 0

What I need is formulas in the adjusted row to look at the number above in the original row, and detect whether it is a positive or negative number.

If it is positive, then it will just display that number. If the original is negative, it will look at the number in area 2 column (original row) and if that number is positive, it will take off that number and attempt to add onto the area 1 until it gets to zero. The adjusted row will then show these adjusted values as above.

It should only take off the number until the reducing number reaches 0 and then stop.

Not sure any of that made sense but if anyone gets what I am on about and can help, it would be most appreciated!

Many thanks

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
Your sample data doesn't seem to follow your rules. ORIGINAL AREA 1 is positive so why isn't ADJUSTED AREA 1 2? It might help if you post some more samples.
