Calculate Number of Days with multiple criteria

I need to be able to calclate, for each position, the number of days the position has been open from today's date.

If status in Column A is "Open", then count the number of days from PER-1 approval date to today's date.

I'm using Excel 2003. Any help with this formula is appreciated.
