Calculated fields question

I have a pivot table field called 'criteria'. It shows as a column on the pivot table with a 'blank', 'a' ,'b', 'c', and 'd' along with a grand total. I need to add a calculated field that adds up only 'a' 'b' and 'd' while still keeping grand total of all criteria, so I don't want to use a filter. How do I do the calculated field formula? Can't figure it out. Tia.

What is the fastest way to copy a formula?
If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.
You need a calculated item, not a calculated field since you want to add items in the same field, not different fields. Note that calculated items can have odd effects on pivot tables and tend to make them slow, so I'd suggest doing something in the source data instead if you can - eg another column that returns a value if the relevant field is a, b or d, and 0 otherwise. Then you can just sum that field.
