Hi,

I'm trying to setup a sheet to calculate the difference between the swim time of my swimmers and the standards they need to reach to attend bigger competitions. I'm using the [mm]:ss.00 formatting in the swim times fields. With a simple formula (=C2-D2) it works well when the standard is slower than the time of the swimmer. When the standard is faster than the swim time and the difference is negative, Excel returns a series of ######## instead of the negative time difference. What can I do to get the negative time difference? Thanks!

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
Just notice the letter for the columns moved in the cut & paste. They should all be one to the left.
