Good afternoon:

I have a spreadsheet that contains payroll data, but it summarizes the information into subtotals

I have a second spreadsheet that contains the detail of of each of the subtotals from the first spreadsheet and gives me the employee names and individual totals.

I am trying to prepare a pivot data or somehow get the information together so that I can combine the two sets of information. The first spreadsheet contains some information that the second does that I need to show and the second spreadsheet contains the detail that I want/need to show.

I am trying to avoid having to do any type of manual manipulation or copying and pasting.

does anyone have any suggestions?

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
Excel code is quite flexible and probably could be used to combine data. Please use Excel Jeanie (see link in my sig) to show a few lines of each worksheet as well as one that shows how you want the data to look once you combined it.

Hi there and thanks for the response.

I am starting to think that I should be doing this in Access, but have no idea how. The reason is because I am going to be constantly adding information and think it would be a lot cleaner if I could accomplish this with some sort of query. I'm going to post a message in the Access forum and see if I can get an responses.
