Hi there,

I have a workbook which uses power pivots with 17 tables in file "Example1". Can I link other workbooks to the tables in "Example1" so I only need to refresh the tables once or do I need to duplicate them?

When I select pivot table from the Tables home ribbon, it only gives me an option to create a pivot table in a worksheet in the existing workbook.

Okay, perfect.

So, upload your workbook with your model to sharepoint. Once it is there, you can create a new workbook for your reports -- you won't use the power pivot window at all in this workbook. You go to Data > From Other Sources > From Analysis Services and for the server put the full url to the model workbook on sharepoint.

You can create as many of these report workbooks as you feel like. I have a client with 80-90 workbooks all "pointing" to the same model... works great.

I used to have a tool that could "split" a workbook into the 2 parts... but had problems getting it to work in 2013 :(

Hi Scottsen,

Thankyou that is very exciting. I am trying to do it now however I get an error message of "XML parsing failed at line 2, column 9; DTD is prohibited" I am working through the error message but I am having trouble understanding any the replies when I google it:eek:

My only guess is bad workbook url or Auth issue?

The URL you put into the server name for your report... If you paste it in a browser does it start downloading the model workbook?
