Can you set a plot equation to enter a cell rather than just appear on a plot?

Hi I am writing a workbook, which has several plots, where I am using regression formula. I am using the equation to find upper and lower limits, but to automate my caluculations, is there a way of entering a plot's equation into cells? Rather than just having them in the box on the spreadhseet?

Any help would be useful!!

Excel Facts

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).
Hi jrm
Welcome to the board

You can get the coefficients of the equation of the trendline displayed in the chart using Linest().

Don't think my question made much sense:

I've looked at what you suggested but of no help I am afraid.

I have a graph/chart, and trendline options I clicked "display Equation on chart" and "display r-squared on chart" which is fine, gives me what I want. but that data seems to be in a text box on the chart. is there a way of just having that automatically appear in a cell on worksheet instead?

Does that make more sense!

Sorry. This is not consistent with what you wrote in your first post

To automate the calculations what you need are the coefficients of the trendline's equation, not the trendline equation text.

You've got no use for the text:

y = 2x<SUP>2</SUP> - 4x + 3

in a cell. On the other hand, if you have in 3 cells the values of the coefficients {2,-4,3} then you can use them to automate your calculations.

Please comment.
