Cant sort pivot table as doesnt recognise date data

I have a pivot table which I want to filter by date, but when I click on the filter button, it gives me "label filters" instead of "dtae filters". I have checked the formatting of the source data and it is in date format. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong??
